Officers of the General Customs Authority at Doha International Airport thwarted a bid to smuggle 17 kilos of narcotic substances, including 1. 09 kilos of opium and around 16 kilos of marijuana, by three passengers from different Asian countries. The acting director of the Airport Customs, Khalid Hamad Rashid al-Kaabi, said the opium was seized in co-operation with the Interior Ministry. It was found concealed in a bag. The marijuana was seized from two Asian passengers. Al-Kaabi said the drugs were seized at the customs area in the passenger terminal during the last few days.
