Egypt's participation in the Berlin Tourism Bourse is invested with special important as the event is one of the most important tourism events at the world level, said Egyptian Minister of Tourism Hisham Zaazou on Wednesday.
In statements to MENA on the sidelines of his participation in the event, he added that taking part this year has special significance at a time when tourism rates to Egypt are down; especially from Russia and Britain.
This state of affairs has its negative impact on the image of Egypt at Europe and the world at large, he said.
Up to 180 countries and more than 10,000 exhibitors are taking part in the even, he added.
He further noted his current visit here is meant also to discuss several important tourist files with the German side. He expressed hope that his current talks here would result in reaching several agreements on boosting tourism to Egypt.
As for an expected with the German minister of interior, he noted that he will brief the German minister on security measures adopted by Egypt at Egyptian airports with a view to guarantee the highest rates of safety and security to tourists visiting Egypt.
The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism has channeled up to 250 million pounds into upgrading security measures in all tourist sites in Egypt, he noted.
