EgyptAir said in a new statement Tuesday that Cypriot security agencies had asserted that the suicide belt used by the hijacker of the Egyptian plane that landed in Larnaca was fake.

The statement said the crisis management room remains in session under Minister of Civil Aviation Sherif Fathi to follow up closely any developments that might arise.
