El Alamein road will be closed as of Tuesday till August 15 at a request of the transport minister, said Traffic Department director Saeed Taima on Sunday.

The road will be closed from the two directions either from the desert or coastal roads, he told MENA.

New alternative routes will be in place for those coming from Cairo via the desert road, he said.
