Helwan / Marg Metro line

The first air-conditioned train came into service on Thursday on the first Metro line stretching from Helwan to Marg stations, the head of the Metro Company said.

The move comes as part of efforts to improve services offered to citizens.

The train has now set off from Tora el Bald station heading for Marg, Engineer Ali Fadali said in statements.

Other air-conditioned trains will get into service gradually according to announced timetable, he said, adding that the second air-conditioned train will be operation in the second half of Ramadan.

The new trains are part of the deal signed with Hyundai Rotem company to supply the first Metro line with 20 air-conditioned trains at a total value of 2.2 billion pounds.
