The emirate’s leading shopping and entertainment family destination, Global Village, has announced that it will open the gates of the region’s largest tourism attraction on October 21 this year. This is the earliest it has ever done in its 17-year history in order to cover the period of Eid Al Adha. The growing attraction to the Global Village, a member of Tecom investments, has led to a number of extensions to its operational dates in the past, and for the upcoming season, it will be will be open for 161 days with a set closing date on March 30, 2013. Announcing the additional days that are planned for the coming season, Global Village Chief Executive Saeed Ali bin Redha said the extended season comes following demand from the public and exhibitors to open longer to meet the demand that saw nearly five million visitors during the 2011-2012 season. Saeed Ali bin Redha said: “Global Village remains one of Dubai’s most popular and well-loved attractions and continues to attract millions of people from across the UAE, the GCC and other markets every year.” He added that in a few weeks’ time, they will be announcing details of a number of new attractions and developments. Global Village is one of Dubai’s biggest brands and tourism destinations, with a participating team of over 10,000 people during its six months of operation. It welcomes nearly five million visitors every year and is regarded as one of the region’s most popular tourism and cultural leisure brands. Located on Emirates Road, Global Village has parking space for 16,500 cars and entry prices will remain at Dh10 for the forthcoming season, with children less than three years of age admitted free of charge.
