Tourism Minister Khaled Ramy

Tourism Minister Khaled Ramy on Sunday said The J. Walter Thompson (JWT) advertising agency has officially won a campaign to promote Egyptian tourism on foreign markets for the next three years.

The winner was chosen among four other competing companies, the minister added in a press conference.

The promotion campaign is scheduled to be launched in October.

The minister said 25 percent of the campaign will be allocated for cultural tourism to restore movement in Luxor and Aswan after a decline in the number of tourists over the past four years.

The campaign aims to restore the tourist movement to Egypt to its normal rates, compared to the 2010 figures, the minister added.

Chairman of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority Sami Mahmoud said a committee studied all tender's details over four months.

The JWT will use new means of propaganda along with a public relations campaign to improve the image of Egypt abroad, he added.

Tourism Minister adviser Amr Al Ezaby said the company's performance will be evaluated by three-month, six-month and annual reports.
