National carrier Kenya Airways announced Thursday that all travelers from Kenya to India will be required to be fully vaccinated against polio from next month. The national carrier said in a statement the drastic move follows the introduction of these new regulations by the Indian government. "Kenya Airways wishes to inform its customers and the general public that from Feb. 14 all travelers from Kenya to India will be required to be fully vaccinated against polio," the statement said. The carrier said the travelers will be required to complete a full course of vaccination against polio, preferably with Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV). He said travelers from Kenya entering India will also be required to have received an additional dose of OPV at least six weeks before they travel. The full course of polio vaccination will be valid for one year. "All travelers from Kenya will now be required to have in their possession a written record of vaccination (patient-retained record) for polio, preferably using IHR 2005 International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis from a hospital or Center administering OPV that is authorized by the government," said the statement.
