Unfounded reports of a gunman clogged traffic near LAX during a police investigation Sunday

Hundreds of travelers were evacuated from Los Angeles International Airport late Sunday after police investigated reports of an active shooter in a terminal, New York Daily News reported Monday.

Security guards and police were seen rushing to the airport just before 9 p.m. as passengers rushed out of the travel hub through the tarmac with their luggage.

Authorities could not immediately confirm if shots had been fired, but police tweeted incoming traffic at the airport was shut down pending an investigation.

Firefighters at LAX said “no significant incident noted thus far” during search for an alleged gunman.
