Ministry of Tourism and Sports’ Department of Tourism plans to develop more tourist attractions, nationwide, to increase the country’s tourism appeal. It will also inspect and install more signs in foreign languages at tourist attractions, nationwide, to provide more convenience for tourists. The tourism department general director, Supol Sripan, said the department will install  signs on routes to tourist attractions after conducting a survey during September to November this year. “After the provincial offices and related local authorities survey an insufficient signage, it is expected to install them next January. “The department will also study examples of theme parks, natural theme parks, movie industry related attractions  and attractions that reflect the heritage of communities or a way of life. “However, the project needs to be studied carefully up until August next year before making a final decision.” In addition, the department is setting up new standard assessments for travel-related products and services to raise the country tourism industry’s standards. “After the standard assessment procedure is finalised, the Tourism Council of Thailand will be responsible for inspection and evaluation, while the Tourism Authority of Thailand will then help promote tourism entrepreneurs who pass their assessment.” The new evaluation is expected to be in force by next year and will help improve the standards of Thai tourism-related products and services, he said.
