Airport traffic in Morocco has registered an increase of 9 percent in the month of February, benefiting from resumed passenger flows to and from Europe.

Morocco’s National Office of Airports has released its statistics on the volume of traffic in Moroccan airports. In this report, the office indicated that airport traffic served 1.37 million travelers in February, which represents an increase of 9.49 percent in commercial traffic compared to the same period in 2016.

International air traffic accounted for almost 90 percent of global traffic in Morocco and saw an increase of 9.78 percent after it reached over 1.20 million passengers in the same period.

Domestic traffic in Morocco generated 144,883 passengers in February 2017, which represents an increased of 7.06 percent compared to the same period of 2016.

An increase in air traffic has been registered globally. The African market witnessed a high increase of over 25.75 percent. The European air traffic that accounts for 69 percent of the volume of commercial air traffic increased by 8.06 percent.

Total air traffic in the Middle East rose by 6 percent whereas that of the Far East saw a surge of 3.93 percent.

South America had the highest increment in air traffic globally, soaring by 124 percent. Air traffic in North America also increased by 30.81 percent in the month of February.
