Thailand Film Office will host film producers to tour the country, 5 to 13 November, to source new filming opportunities. The Department of Tourism, Thailand Film Office, announced the funded fam trips will help it achieve a revenue target from foreign production shoots of over Bt2.2 billion (around US$71 million). In 2008,  a record Bt2,023 million was achieved. The Film Friendly Thailand Familiarisation Tour will feature outstanding spots in Thailand that highlight culture, heritage and modern life activities. Heritage will be covered with a visit to the historical ruins of Ayutthaya; while a tour along Chao Phraya River and its canals will illustrate the capital’s modern city life. Other activities include participating in the Yi Peng (Loi Kratong) festival and an excursion to Doi Chang coffee plantation and an Akha Hilltribes village. The department says it is inviting the film industry’s big names including the president of the Location Managers Guild of America, a representative from Japan’s Nippon Television, producers from Bollywood and international location managers that have worked on major Hollywood productions such as the Pirates of the Caribbean, the Aviator, the Rain Man, Kill Bill, Transformers and varioius TV shows.
