Algiers International Airport

The works of the new terminal of the Houari-Boumediene International Airport will start in 2014 to be completed in 2018, declared Tuesday CEO of the management company of airport infrastructure and services (SGSIA), Tahar Allache.
"The detailed studies concerning the project of the new terminal was completed and the works will start 2014, as soon as the contract with the firm shortlisted for construction is signed," Allache told APS.
"This terminal will not be destined to the national company of air transport only since we have set up a leading plan and conducted statistics that brought out the need for constructing a new facility to strengthen the international traffic," he added.
According to Allache, the first stage of the plan will be launched in the Airport’s western part, i.e., the new terminal while the second one which concerns the eastern part, includes the building of a third terminal by 2032.
Indeed, the former honorary hall, the current terminal pour domestic flights, the current control tower and the current terminal destined to hajj will serve as land base to this project as from 2032.
As from 2018, the domestic traffic will be transferred into the current international terminal, which a part will be reserved for the travelers to the holy places of Islam.
