Abu Dhabi International Airport achieved double-digit growth in passenger traffic in February, serving over a million passengers for the eighth consecutive month. A report said the number of passengers grew 24.5 per cent and aircraft movements increased 3.8 per cent to 9,263. It put the increases down to the adding of new destinations by Etihad, including five flights a week to Shanghai in China, and the operation of new airlines including Safi Airways of Afghanistan, which now operates four flights a week to Kabul. The report also showed that cargo shipments are on the rise, increasing by 13.2 per cent over the same period last year to 42,860 tonnes. Ahmad Mohammad Al Haddabi, Chief Operating Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports Company, said: \"As Etihad Airways adds new routes to its network and more airlines launch services from the airport, Abu Dhabi International Airport will continue to provide convenient and efficient travel choices, along with award winning world class services to all passengers.\" From gulfnews
