The downtown Cairo's Sadat metro station will be closed on Monday, spokesman for the Metro company Ahmed Abdel Hady said on Sunday.

The station will be closed to passengers using the first and second metro lines upon a request by security authorities, he added.

No date was set for reopening the station, Abdel Hady said.
