Saudi Arabia’s General Commission for Tourism and Antiquities has imposed a ban on smoking in all tourism facilities. The SCTA passed a regulation for all workers in tourism services sectors and institutions including tourism accommodation facilities (hotels, furnished apartments), tourism travel agencies and tourist activity organizers that prohibits smoking in work places. Violation notices will be issued to all tourist institutions which do not comply with this regulation. Prince Sultan bin Salman, SCTA president, confirmed this regulation in the context of activating all regulations enacted by the Interior Ministry in compliance with the instructions of Custodian of the two Holy Mosques King Abdullah that dictate smoking prohibition in state-run foundations, public institutions, public places, cafes and restaurants, in addition to roofed shopping malls and crowded places.
