Airports of Thailand Co (AoT) announced Tuesday the closure of Don Meaung Airport from 7 p.m. as northern runoff flooded the runways and affected lighting system. The airport asked those who parked their cars at the airport\'s ground floor to move their vehicles as soon as possible. The airport has been made a makeshift flood relief operations center since early October but the government may consider moving out after the incident. In a related development, Nok Air, a budget airline, announced that their services at the airport will be suspended until Nov. 1 and all flights scheduled to arrive at the airport after 12 a.m. were diverted to Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Samutprakarn province. Orient Thai, another low-cost airline, has moved its flight base from Don Meaung to Suvarnabhumi airport, from 3 p.m. Tuesday until further notice.
