The number of tourists visiting Turkey increased in January-September period of 2012. Basaran Ulusoy, head of Turkish Travel Agencies Association (TURSAB), told Anatolia news agency on Tuesday that the number of tourists increased 0.51% to 25,756,984 in January-September period of 2012 when compared to the same period of 2011. Ulusoy said that according to UN World Tourism Organization's figures in 2011, Turkey ranked the 11th in the world in the aspect of tourism income. He noted that belief tourism had a big contribution in Turkey's being one of the main actors of world tourism, adding that 102,314 belief tourists visited Turkey according to 2011 figures of TurkStat, the Turkish statistical institute. Turkey drew the most tourists from Bulgaria, Greece, Britain, Germany and Georgia within the scope of belief tourism, said Ulusoy. (ANSAmed).
