Washington urges chance for probe into EgyptAir plane crash

Mark C. Toner, the Deputy Spokesperson for the State Department, has stressed the importance of giving a chance for the investigators who probe the crash of an EgyptAir plane en route from Paris to Cairo last week to continue investigations.

In a statement on Wednesday, Toner refused to confirm statements attributed to a US official that the crash was caused by a terror attack, pointing out that such statements do not reflect the official viewpoint of the United States.

Asked if the Egyptian government had called for US help, he said the United States deployed P-3 Orion aircraft to take part in search and rescue operations.
