The Al Qudwa family in Gaza has denounced what has been quoted by some news agencies as saying the Fatah Central Committee is about to question Mr. Mohammad Dehlan, a Palestinian member
of the Legislative Council and one of Fatah's most influential leaders. The line of questioning will address the circumstances surrounding the death of Palestinian President Yassir Arafat. In a statement released by the Al Qudwa family to Arabs Today Gaza office, said the accusation against Mr. Dahlan as baseless and having considered what has been said as an attempt to clear Israel from any responsibility in the the death of Arafat after besieging his Ramallah headquarters in 2004. The statement added the Al Qudwa family will reserve the right to question some of the media organizations involved in spreading this propaganda and described what has been publicized as unprofessional and immoral in an attempt to restore Mr. Dahlan's reputation. The Al Qudwah family have reached out to senior officials within the Fatah Party and Palestinian Authority urging them to denounce the accusation lodged against Mr. Dehlan citing such statements damaging and gives a false impression and could possibly influence unfair sentiments within the Palestinian community.
Jamal Al Mohisan a member of the Fatah Central Committee announced today the committee will convene next Thursday at the request of Mr. Dahlan for which he has made himself available to stand before the committee and defend himself against all accusations being made against him. Al Mohisan has also categorically denied any involved in any statement against Mr. Dehlan. Prior to exiting Ramallah Dahlan informed President Mahmoud Abbas he was in fact leaving the West Bank but would make himself available to face the Central Committee within two weeks in order to defend and clear his name of false accusations suggesting he was planning a military coup in the West Bank as well as address other allegations lodged against him.
Mohisan added in his statement to the press there is a list of accusations currently before the committed this same list has been presented to President Mahmoud Abbas. The president in due time will pass the document on to the appropriate arm of the judicial system for review. Mohisan categorically denied any involvement or wrong doing on the part of Mr. Dehlan in any way for the poisoning of President Arafat which lead to his death. Senior Fatah sources informed Arabs Today that Dahlan had sent an official letter to Mr. Mohmad Ghuneim, also know as Abu Maher, General Secretary of Fatah Central Committee. In the letter Dahal repeats his willingness to cooperate in the investigation and prove his innocence, and further insists that the committees approach be democratic, fair and unbiased in its handling of this matter.
Dr. Sufian abu Zaida a member of Fatah Revolutionary Council and close friend and Allie to Mr. Dahlan confirmed the letter was sent. The Fatah Parties internal courts made a decision on the 27th of July asking Mr. Dahlan to submit a request outlining his willingness for a formal appeal in order to reverse a previous decision taken by President Abbas which stripped him of his central committee membership. Mr. Mohmmad Dahlan and his sympathizers described Abbas decision as illegal and calls for its immediate reversal.
