Palestinian official sources told “Arabstoday” that they are expecting “the completion of the Palestinian reconciliation soon, which will come as a surprise in the coming few days similar to the prisoners
swap deal”, despite Hamas’s denial that they made any agreement with Fatah.
Where Ismail Radwan, Hamas leader, denied that Hamas has agreed to hold a meeting in Cairo soon.”
Radwan said in a press statement on Thursday “we did not agree with Fatah to hold any meeting in Cairo, to resume the Palestinian negotiations.”
Azzam Al-Ahmad, Fateh Central Committee member has confirmed that the meeting is likely to be held soon between Hamas and Fatah and it "will discuss the necessity of activating the reconciliation agreement, to continue the political achievements made by the Palestinian leadership, in the recent weeks.”
In the same context, Fatah movement has warned the Palestinians not to allow Netanyahu’s government to exploit the prisoner exchange deal to deepen the Palestinian division.
Fateh Media Spokesman, Osama Qawasmi, wished in a statement, on Thursday, that the swap deal will help restoring the national unity, he pointed out that releasing the Palestinian prisoners is a national issue that matters to all the Palestinian people.
And warned of Netanyahu government attempts to affect the efforts of the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas who aims to mobilize international support to recognize the State of Palestine and obtain a full membership in the United Nations. He stressed on the need to achieve the reconciliation agreement.
The director of the Palestine Studies Center in Cairo, Ibrahim Al-Derawi, confirmed that an anticipated meeting will be held in Cairo between the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, and the Chairman of the Political Bureau of Hamas, Khaled Meshaal, to resume the talks on the completion of the Palestinian reconciliation.
Al-Derawi said in a press statement, that Meshaal called the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and briefed him with the latest developments regarding the prisoner swap deal. He added, that Meshaal has also called the Egyptian intelligence chief, Mourad Muwafi, to resume the talks regarding the Palestinian reconciliation.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, is expected to meet Meshaal in Cairo, next week, in conjunction with the implimentation of the Palestinian prisoners swap deal.
Mishal has also talked with Muwafi, on Friday, to study ways to implement the prisoner exchange agreement, which has been agreed on last Tuesday, and sponsored by Egypt.
"Hamas” delegation, headed by Mashaal thanked Egypt for its efforts to support the rights of the Palestinian people, especially its role in the prisoner exchange deal.
Fatah and Hamas signed a reconciliation agreement sponsored by Egypt, on the 3rd of May to end the internal division more than four years ago. However they have disagreed on the formation of a coalition government, from independent figures, which has halted the implementation of the agreement.
