Cairo - MENA
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will lead a high-level delegation to attend the opening of the 2nd World Youth Forum (WYF) in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh at the invitation of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, Palestinian Ambassador in Cairo and Permanent Delegate to the Arab League Diab Al-Loh said Thursday.
The WYF is set to be held from 3 to 6 November under the auspices of President El-Sisi.
The ambassador added in press statements that Abbas is set to arrive to Egypt on Friday, noting that preparations are underway for his meeting with President El- Sisi, which is expected to cover the latest Palestinian developments and a range of other issues of mutual interest.
Al-Loh stressed the keenness of the Egyptian and Palestinian leadership on maintaining constant coordination in all areas, especially the political domain.
Delegations from around the world started arriving Wednesday to Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport ahead of the WYF.
Some 5,000 young people, journalists, public figures and officials from more than 50 countries across the world are set to participate in this year's edition of the forum.
The forum, which will be attended by El-Sisi, will focus on the themes of peace, development and creativity, as well as various topics that reflect the visions and aspirations of the world’s youth, according to Al-Ahram Arabic news website.
The forum will also give participants the chance to exchange their experiences in different fields, including development and innovation.
Last year, the WYF, which was held for the first time in Sharm El-Sheikh, attracted thousands of participants from around the world, with official delegations and young people from numerous countries.
The WYF was first announced during the country’s National Youth Conference in Alexandria in July 2017, which was also attended by El-Sisi.
