Egyptian Prime Minister Isam Sharaf
Egyptian Prime Minister Isam Sharaf held a long emergency meeting with his government Friday night.The emergency ministerial committee discussed the Israeli attack on Sinai desert last Thursday
, resulting the death of one Egyptian officer and two soldiers on the borders with Israel.
As an immediate response, the Egyptian government withdrawn it’s ambassador from Israel and summon the Israeli ambassador in Cairo. The decision was taken In order to confirm the Egyptian’s condemnation of the Israeli action attack on Sinai.
The Committee of Ministers has agreed to conduct formal joint investigation and take legal necessary procedures in order to preserve the rights of the Egyptian victims.
The committee said in a statement to Arabs Today: "When the Israeli authorities gives us the results of their investigations, and their leaders apologize for this unfortunate remarks towards Egypt, the Egyptian ambassador will be withdraw from Israel".
The statement emphasized that Egypt also condemns the irresponsible reactions of some Israeli leaders, which lack wisdom and prudence. It also assured that Egypt is able to protect its borders and warns Israel from such actions to drag Egypt in unstable situation.
The statement has also assured that the process of combing the security in Sinai is an internal action which has nothing to do with Eilat incident.
Egypt also burden Israel the political and legal responsibility of this incident which is considered as a violation of Egyptian-Israeli peace agreement.
The Committee also stressed on the importance of continuing its security campaign named ‘Al-Naser’ in Sinai in order to eliminate all elements of extremism, and get rid of smugglers. It also assured the importance of providing the campaign with all necessary needs to maintain its main goal.
The statement also warned Egyptians and media from the threats Egypt faces on its national security, and called them to pay attention to all risks in order to keep the Egyptian national security.
On the other hand, a large number of Egyptians demonstrated in front of the Israeli embassy in Cairo, calling for the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador and canceling the Gas agreement between Egypt and Israel
Isam Sharaf had already commented on the incident on his official page on "Facebook", saying: "The blood of the Egyptians is too expensive to go unanswered, and too generous to be worthless, the Egyptian revolution has given back to the Egyptians their dignity and what was accepted in Egypt before the revolution would not be acceptable after.” He also added that he is “discussing the alternatives on the killing of those honorable soldiers.”
