The Ministry of Economy and Commerce concluded its celebrations to mark World Intellectual Property Day on Wednesday, in partnership with Qatar University and with the participation of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, and Qatar Scientific Club.
Entitled "Innovation toward Better Living," the ceremony brought together intellectual property experts from the ministry and other organisations, aimed at enhancing the protection of intellectual property rights and promoting their adoption on a large scale.
The second and final day of celebrations featured the participation of a number of innovators, inventors, students and members of the public with an interest in intellectual property rights.
The ministry delivered two lectures, entitled "Intellectual Property in Qatar: The Way Forward" and "The Young Innovator: How to Protect Your Invention?" The lectures were followed by presentations from inventors, who showcased their prototypes. The ceremony concluded by honouring distinguished inventors.
The World Intellectual Property Day has been celebrated on an annual basis since the year 2000 with the aim of spreading awareness about the concept of intellectual property rights protection among copyright holders or those interested in innovative, artistic or literary areas of intellectual property rights, encouraging and enabling them to protect their inventions.
