Egyptian actress Rania Youssef revealed that she received a police warrant, submitted by the producers of her new film ‘Riklam’, to force her to shoot the film’s poster, against her will
. The police were enforcing the provisions of the film contract. Youssef had earlier refused to appear on the poster, following her rejection of the film before its official screening.
Rania ridiculed the action taken against her, telling ‘Arabstoday’ that she was the one who demanded this term in the contract; “I wrote it with my own hands, and it stated that my picture and name on the poster are the same size as the picture and name of Ghada Abdel Razek, so how can they then use it against me in a warrant?”
She stressed that she is still committed to her decision to not shoot the poster, saying “I permanently turned the page over this film, and I will not look back.” She added that she was “ripped off” in the making of the movie, particularly by director Ali Ragab, who assured her at the very beginning, when he nominated her for the role, that he will partake in production and that he needs her assistance to ensure the success of the film. However, she was surprised to find that most of this was untrue. In addition, despite the agreement stated that she and Ghada Abdel Razek are to co-star the movie, with equal roles and numbers of scenes; she found that her remaining scenes after the film edit implied that she was only a guest star.
The Egyptian actress pointed out that she was thrilled with the audience’s response to her other film ‘Wahed Sahih’ (One Whole). She added that she is currently undergoing an active phase in her career, through which she tries to select the “good roles” which would please the audience.
