Health Minister Nizar Yazigi discussed on Tuesday with Belarusian Deputy Health Minister Vyacheslav Shilo and the accompanying delegation means of bolstering bilateral cooperation.
The two sides also discussed the possibility of establishing pharmaceutical industries and medical supplies and the exchange of medical expertise.
Yazigi affirmed the Ministry’s readiness to simplify the procedures for Belarusian pharmaceutical companies wishing to register their products in Syria in order to meet the need of the local market and ensure the health security of citizens.
He pointed out that the locally-made medicines covers more than 90% of the market needs, while the need remains for specific medicines such as medicines for chronic and cancer diseases.
For his part, Shilo expressed his country’s desire to strengthen cooperation with Syria and open the medical and pharmaceutical markets between the two countries and the transfer of biotechnology to Syria, especially as the Belarusian pharmaceutical products are known for their “high quality and appropriate prices.”
