Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe border
The United Nations tourism body, the UN World Tourism Organization, (UNWTO) has predicted that the number of tourists going to Africa will triple by 2030.
The number, which currently sits at around 52 million, is not representative of Africa’s potential, the group says.
The UNWTO is holding its 20th general assembly in Zambia, at Victoria Falls, on the Zimbabwe border as a means of showing a side to African that perhaps isn’t as well known.
The South Africa Broadcast Corporation quoted the UNWTO secretary general as saying: “In 2030 in 18 years we are expecting tourists to triple at an average growth rate of 4% year on year which is higher than the estimated global growth.”
