Foreign Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan met on Friday with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon on the margins of the high level meetings of the 69th UN General Assembly.
The meeting touched on current issues of mutual interest, including those pertaining to the Middle East and North Africa and the international counter-terrorism efforts. Also discussed were developments in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, as well as the progress of the Palestinian issue, the Middle East and North Africa and other issues.
Sheikh Abdullah reviewed with Ban Ki Moon ways to boost cooperation between the UAE and the UN in different humanitarian and developmental programmes, efforts for the upliftment of women, renewable energy and climate change. The stressed the importance of strengthening ties, development of partnerships and exchange of expertise.
The meeting was attended by UAE Minister of State Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber and UAE Permanent Representative to the UN Lana Nusseibeh.
Afterwards, Sheikh Abdullah met with the President of the United Nations 69th General Assembly Sam Kutesa and discussed with him topics on the current general assembly meetings' agenda.
Sheikh Abdullah renewed UAE delegation's commitment to cooperate with the new General Assembly President on all issues debated during this year's meeting.
UAE Permanent Representative to the UN Lana Nusseibeh attended the meeting.
