Abu Dhabi - Arab Today
Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Minister of Federal National Council (FNC) Affairs, gave a presentation on the latest political and military developments in Yemen during the 13th session of the FNC, chaired by the FNC Speaker Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr.
The presentation comes in line with the keenness of Dr. Gargash to brief the FNC on the latest developments in Yemen, being a representative of the people of the UAE. The minister's briefing focussed on the UAE's position and its participation in the Arab coalition "Operation Decisive Storm," led by Saudi Arabia, which aims to preserve the constitutional legitimacy in Yemen, and maintenance of the political track, which is internationally recognised, and its basic components, especially the GCC initiative, its executive mechanisms and outputs of the national dialogue and resolutions agreed upon by the people of Yemen.
The FNC commended the position of the UAE in the light of the directives of its wise leadership towards brothers, stressing that this stance embodies cooperation among various institutions in the state. It paid a tribute to the UAE Armed Forces on dispatching the relief aid to war stricken countries and zones hit by natural disasters worldwide, as well as its contribution to the international peacekeeping operations.
Al Murr said the FNC supports the position of the UAE and its participation in the coalition to restore the stability and security in Yemen and back the constitutional legitimacy in that country.
He added that the participation of the UAE in Operation Decisive Storm comes within its historic role to back the sisterly state of Yemen in all circumstances, adding that it also reflects a strong sense of responsibility towards the region, and its security and stability as Yemen is a part of the GCC joint action system.
Al Murr added that the UAE works together with brotherly nations to protect the region's security and stability, and its gains against whatever poses a threat to them, noting that "the UAE hopes Yemen and its people will come out of this ordeal, so that all Yemeni parties can return to work, join the development process and restore stability."
