Sudan has approved the inauguration of a branch for the Arab Open University (AOU), to be the 8th Arab country after Kuwait (where the main premises is located), Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon
to host a branch of the AOU.
Sudanese Minister of Higher Education Khamis Kadjo Kundah issued the decision and ordered the bodies concerned to take necessary steps for establishing the university.
In statements on Monday, AOU Director Abdeen Sherif praised the Sudanese Ministry of Higher Education to finalise measures for the establishment of the university as soon as possible.
The AOU is a non-profit university which gives bachelor degrees in the Egyptian language and literature, information technology, administrative sciences, business administration and teaching in various specializations.
The main paradigm upon which the pillars of an open system of education lies in its flexibility to accommodate a wider base of Higher Education (HE) seekers, thereby offering open opportunities for education to many qualified applicants.
