US, Jordan sign deal to education development
Jordan and the United States, on Tuesday, signed a 235-million-dollar grant to support education in the Kingdom over the next five years.
The deal will help strengthen the quality of education through professional development and
construction and expansion of additional schools across the kingdom, and will provide assistance to vulnerable youth to keep them in school and prepare them for a productive life.
The funding will be spent over the next five years. The U.S. government has funded the construction of 27 new and expansion of 38 existing schools in Jordan.
The agreement was signed by Minister of Education, Mohammad Thunaibat, and Minister of Public Works and Housing, Sami Halsah, and U.S. Ambassador to Jordan Stuart Jones, and Director of USIAD in Jordan Beth Beige.
