Training sessions take place at the Suez Canal University in May and June 2013 Suez Canal University has announced plans to hold the sixth session of its programme to combat tuberculosis and Aids in Ismailia. The session, scheduled from May 13 to June 11, 2013, is titled: Quality Management in the fight against tuberculosis and AIDS in the Nile Basin countries.
The event is being held in collaboration with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa (EFTCA) and the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
President of the University, Dr Mohammed Mahdan, and his deputy for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr Mamdouh Mustafa Ghorab are expected to oversee proceedings.
Event administrator Dr Suha Azzedine explained that the objective of the programme is to train 20 doctors from the Nile Basin countries; Sudan, South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, Eritrea, Djibouti and Egypt.
"The programme hosts two workers from each country, one from the counter TB department, and the other from the Aids prevention group, at the university campus in Suez.
Medical professors from the institution and the Ministry of Health will teach students about the prevention of disease.
There will also be input and training sessions from the World Health Organisation (WHO).
