General view of Luxor, Egypt Luxor – Mohammed Al Adissi Hundreds of young people will gather in Egypt to debate environmental issues as Luxor prepares to host the Fourth International Environmental Forum for the Arab-African Youth Hot topics will include water in the African region, joint water basins, environmental and developmental challenges
of the Nile basin countries and ways to increase economic integration between Arab and African countries.
More than 450 young men and women are expected at the Fourth International Environmental Forum for the Arab -African Youth, which runs from October 16 to October 20 under the slogan of “One river … One People”.
Dr Ezzat Saad, Governor of Luxor, said: “The Arab and African youth will organise a cleaning campaign in archaeological sites in Luxor. The Forum aims at promoting the bonds of Arab African culture as well as strengthening the relation between the young people.”
The forum, run by the Islamic Educational Science and Culture Organisation (ISESCO) and the Arab Federation for Youth and Environment, will also examine the role of popular diplomacy and negotiations in the issue of shared water.
In February the governorate hosted young people from Africa who carried out cultural and artistic activities on the sidelines of Luxor African Film Festival.
