Fossils have been found across Tunisia since 1955 The tail of a carnivorous dinosaur believed to be over 110 million years has been discovered by Italian paleontologists in Tataouine, southern Tunisia. The dinosaur is reportedly 16 metres long and four metres high .
The dinosaurs’ tracks were discovered by researchers from Bologna University on rocks high up in the Tunisian mountains, close to the Libyan border, on land that would formally have been made up of rivers and lakes.
Tunisia’s first dinosaur fossils were discovered in 1955 when paleontologists found teeth, thigh bones and the spine of a dinosaur, which are currently on display at the Tataouine Memory of Earth museum.
The country has long been a popular destination for experts and geologists looking for new fossils and remains.
