Lights caused panic amongst animals in Giza Zoo
Officials in Giza Zoo said protesters from the Muslim Brotherhood in nearby Nahda Square had placed high ?illuminating spotlights along the walls of the zoo
and directed the lights towards the animals.
The lights had caused panic in many of the wild animals the zoo houses including the tigers, lions, elephants and zebras as well as the reptiles.?
The official added that guards were called in on Saturday night after several animals began showing agitation, particularly the lions, since they live in a habitat similar to their natural environment and are not accustomed to seeing any electrical lights after sunset.
Also a number of veterinarians were called in to monitor the health conditions of the animals as ?some of the females are pregnant, whilst others are nurturing their babies.
