Civil Aviation Minister Sherif Fathi returned home Wednesday from Canada, where he had taken part in meetings of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The meetings in Canada were meant to prepare for an international ministerial meeting on civil aviation security, which will be held in the Egyptian Red Sea resort city of Sharm el Sheikh on August 22.

During his visit to Canada, Fat'hi had met with the president and secretary general of ICAO and discussed emergency runways established b Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain to be used by Qatari airline companies.
