Cairo - Egypt Today
Grand Imam of Azhar Sheikh Ahmed al Tayyeb, Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam and Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL) Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Issa will inaugurate on Tuesday the international Fatwa Conference under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi with the participation of multi-regional delegations from 80 countries.
The three-day conference, which is considered a milestone in Darul Iftaa’s history, will discuss a number of vital issues relating to Muslim minorities in western countries and covers the mannerism on how to prepare Imams to handle extremism and encounter the challenges facing Muslim communities.
Al Tayyeb is to deliver the conference’s inauguration speech. The conference will witness the launch of four new initiatives on the role of fatwa (religious edict) via internet portals in interacting with Muslims worldwide, according to Egypt's Mufti and MWL chief.
The conference stems from Darul Iftaa conviction, as a top Muslim religious authority, that Imams and preachers in the west are the core of spreading the true and sound teachings of Islam within various communities and that it is very crucial to provide them with the necessary scholarly preparations and Fatwa Issuance tools to cope with the reality of times.
Egypt’s Darul Iftaa is to hold an international press conference later to announce the conference’s main subjects, the important initiatives and recommendations that will be declared.
