Brazzaville - Arab Today
Congolese outgoing President Denis Sassou Nguesso, who has ruled the country for 32 years, was re-elected for a new five-year term.
He won the presidential elections in the first round with 60% of the vote, said the Interior Minister Raymond Zephirin, announcing the results on national television on Thursday.
The elections were held last Sunday amid tense atmosphere after the announcement of total communications blackout for two days to prevent the "illegal publication" of election results by the opposition.
