French President Emmanuel Macron

Egypt is fighting terrorism, which threatens the entire Middle East region, French President Emmanuel Macron said.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Macron said there is military partnership between Egypt and France to counter terrorism.

France supports Egypt in the fight against terrorism, he said, adding that the two countries are jointly working to stand up to terrorist attacks and resolve Syrian and Libyan crises.

Macron further said he will cooperate with Egypt at the diplomatic levels to end the Syrian war, warning of the emergence of new terrorist groups in Syria if no political solution is reached.

Also, Macron said he is aware of the policy adopted by President Sisi to face terrorist attacks and maintain Egypt's stability, but the Egyptian president should defend and support human rights, even at the time of fighting terrorism.
