An EgyptAir delegation headed on Monday

An EgyptAir delegation headed on Monday for New York to receive the last Boeing 737-800 NG as part of a recent deal brokered with the international company to get nine aircraft of the same model.

The new plane brings to 27 the number of EgyptAir's Boeing 737-800 NG and to 67 the number of the national carrier's Boeings.

EgyptAir announced in July the purchase of nine of the latest 737 aircraft, valued at about US$864 million (almost LE9 billion).

Eight of the aircraft are being purchased with the assistance of Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE), partly owned by the government of Dubai.

The 737-800 is the best-selling version of the successful Next-Generation 737 family. Known for its reliability, fuel efficiency, and economic performance, the 737-800 is selected by leading carriers throughout the world because it provides operators the flexibility to serve a wide range of markets
