The Fujairah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, FCCI, and the European Union Mission in the UAE, have discussed the economic and trade relations between the UAE in general, and the emirate in particular, with the EU countries.
The parties also covered ways to promote ties between Fujairah's entrepreneurs and their counterparts in the EU.
Discussions took place during a visit by Ambassador Patricio Fondi, Head of the EU mission in the UAE, to the chamber, accompanied by EU mission officials, who were received by Sultan Jamee' Obeid, Deputy Director-General of FCCI.
During the meeting, Jamee' Obeid went on to highlight Fujairah's strategic location on the Hormuz Strait, the centre of the trade movement in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.
He also elaborated on the available investment opportunities in the emirate, especially in the crude oil storage and refinement sector, as well as in petrochemical industries, tourism and logistics services.
The FCCI Deputy Director-General said that the relations between the UAE and the EU countries had witnessed a significant development in the economic and trade areas, and referred to the signing of many important agreements aimed at encouraging the growth of mutual investments, as well as increasing joint trade and commercial cooperation.
He underlined the possibility of benefitting from the EU countries' expertise in innovation, small and medium enterprises, scientific research activities and smart cities solutions, as part of the national innovation strategy that was launched within the framework of the UAE efforts to accelerate its transformation towards a knowledge-based economy relying on innovation.
Ambassador Fondi expressed the keenness of the EU countries to promote and develop their relations with the UAE and underscored the importance of the exchange visits between the two sides to understand the available investment opportunities, as well as the incentives provided to investors in all areas of interest.
