General John Lorimer.

General John Lorimer, Britain's defense senior adviser on the Middle East, said that Britain helps train 10,000 Lebanese soldiers to develop the army's capability to secure the Syrian border, the National News Agency reported on Tuesday.

"This is a remarkable achievement in such a short time," Lorimer said, according to a statement which was issued after the end of Lorimer's third visit to Lebanon since November 2017.

Lorimer said his visit was an opportunity to see how current and future support to the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) will reinforce Lebanon's stability and the LAF's vital role as the legitimate defender of Lebanon.

During his visit, Lorimer held meetings with President Michel Aoun, House Speaker Nabih Berri, Director General of General Security G. Ibrahim Abbas, and Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun.
