Secretary of the Palestine Liberation Organization's (PLO) Executive Committee Saeb Erekat said that the international community ought to adopt the two-state solution based on the 1967 borders and to compel the Israeli government to stop settlement activities.
Erekat's statements came during his meeting with Japanese Ambassador for Palestinian Affairs Takeshi Okubo.
Erekat lauded Japan's support for the peace process that would lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the pre-1967 borders.
He asserted that Palestine continues to work with the US administration in order to implement the two-state solution.
Erekat also called on the US administration to immediately announce that the peace process aims to implement the two-state solution, urging it to compel the Israeli government to stop all settlement activities.
