His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has received a cable of congratulations from the Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, on the kingdom’s election as a regular member at the Governing Body of the International Labour (ILO) Office for the period 2017–20 with the Government Group.
The minister extended deepest congratulations to HRH the Prime Minister for Bahrain’s winning the regular membership at ILO’s governing body, noting that the achievement is reflects the International Community’s appreciation of prestigious status enjoyed by Bahrain under His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s Reform Project.
It is also in recognition of the tremendous efforts exerted by the government, under the leadership of HRH the Prime Minister, to achieve sustainable development goals, as well as of its policies and programmes aimed at pushing Bahrain’s human and economic development forward, the minister said.
Humaidan affirmed that the Kingdom’s achievement was the fruitful outcome of the government’s successful efforts and initiatives to strengthen the stability of the labour market, enhance labour gains, maintain unemployment rates at secure levels, protect and ensure the rights of the workforce, and constant support to workers and employers.
The kingdom’s election as a regular ILO governing body member follows its success as a deputy member for the period 2014-17, he said.
The minister pledged, on behalf of the kingdom’s delegation to the 106th Session of the International Labour Conference, to implement the Premier’s sound directives on continuing fruitful cooperation with social partners –workers and employers- in the kingdom to serve the kingdom and honour it at international gatherings.
