Culture Minister Helmy el Namnam held a meeting to discuss preparations related to choosing Luxor as the Capital of Arab Culture 2017 as of March.
The Tunisian city of Sfax was chosen as the Capital of Arab Culture in 2016.
The minister assigned a formed committee to hold proceedings of celebration to choose Luxor as the Capital of Arab Culture 2017.
He also called for organizing several book fairs, symposiums and conferences throughout the year.
The Arab Capital of Culture is an initiative taken by the Arab League under the UNESCO Cultural Capitals Program to promote and celebrate Arab culture and encourage cooperation in the Arab region.
