Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping exchanged a number of messages on the UNESCO election in the past few days during intense contacts between the Egyptian and Chinese foreign ministers.

Egypt thanked and appreciated China for withdrawing its candidate Qian Tang in favor of its candidate Moushira Khattab.

Earlier in the week, Sisi phoned Sunday his Nigerian counterpart Muhammadu Buhari on boosting bilateral ties.

The call also touched on the latest African developments and means of enhancing the African stances at international forums, where the two leaders stressed the importance of solidarity among the African states to support Africa’s interests.

Buhar said his country appreciates relations with Egypt, underscoring the importance of boosting cooperation with it in various fields.

On Monday, Sisi received a phone call from his Somali counterpart Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo who voiced his appreciation for the historical relations binding the two countries. In the call, Farmajo lauded Egypt's role in supporting Somalia to achieve stability.

He hoped for more cooperation between the two countries in various fields, hailing Egypt’s technical assistance to his country and its defense of the Somali interests at the regional and international arenas.

President Sisi, for his part, asserted Cairo’s support for the unity and sovereignty of Somalia.
