President of the French National Assembly (the lower house of parliament), Richard Ferrand, will come to Russia next spring, Caroline Janvier, head of the Russian-French Friendship Group, said on Wednesday.
"We need to develop a multilateral approach in the world. I believe that our relations serve as a framework for such interaction. I will be happy to work together with the President of the National Assembly during his travel to Russia next spring," she stated. "I am very glad that we really start moving forward in this direction."
Janvier also said that "plans are in store to discuss many issues, including inter-parliamentary cooperation, the situation in the Middle East, as well as scientific and technical, and cultural cooperation" during Ferrand’s visit to Russia.
The head of the Russian-French Friendship Group emphasized the importance of "promoting a very crucial project aimed at creating a specific representative body of France in Russia, like it is between France and Germany."
On Wednesday, the National Assembly is hosting the first meeting of graduates with an MA degree of Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) and the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Institut d'·tudes Politiques de Paris, Sciences Po). Russia and France’s expertise in various spheres of international politics, science, culture, and public life will be discussed during joint colloquiums and round tables.
