Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi arrived here on Monday on a two-day official visit to Cyprus during which he will attend the fifth trilateral summit with Cyprus and Greece.

Sisi is scheduled to hold tête-à-tête talks with Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades and senior officials on boosting bilateral ties at all levels.

Sisi will address the Cypriot parliament for the first time as he will assert the depth of relations binding the two countries and highlight the progress achieved in such relations over the past few years.

On Tuesday, Sisi will participate in the fifth summit between Egypt, Greece and Cyprus.

The summit will group Sisi, Anastasiades and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

During the visit, Sisi will attend the inauguration of the Egyptian-Cypriot Business Forum with the aim of activating economic and trade relations and exploring new investment opportunities between the two countries.

Egyptian-Cypriot ties are deeply-rooted since the independence of Cyprus in 1960, he said, adding that bilateral cooperation has steadily developed after President Sisi took the helm in 2014.

Following Egypt's revolution on June 30, 2013, Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades visited Egypt six times, a matter that reflected distinguished cooperation and coordination between Cairo and Nicosia at the regional and international levels, Moritzis said.

The first trilateral summit was held in Cairo in November 2014, the second in Nicosia in April 2015, the third in Athens in December 2015 and the fourth in Cairo in October 2016.
