Chairman of the Supreme Health Council Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa paid a visit today to the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) as part of continuous coordination between the council and the health institutions in Bahrain.
NHRA Chief Executive Dr. Mariam Adhbi Al-Jalahma hailed the visit, stressing the authority’s keenness to boost the moitoring system on the health institutions in Bahrain according to high international quality standards through the national health institutions accreditation programme.
Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa presented, in the presence of Secretary General of the Supreme Health Council Ibrahim Ali Al Nawakhdha, a comprehensive induction account on the future role of the authority within the framework of the national health insurance project “My Health” which is set to be implemented by Bahrain in the upcoming period and will benefit citizens and residents.
The Supreme Health Council Chairman stressed NHRA’s pivotal role in ensuring success of the health insurance project by being responsible for licences to hospitals, health institutions, doctors, nurses, technicians as well as inspection on hospitals and health institutions and granting accreditation certificates. He added that NHRA will coordinate with Hekma Centre which will operate under the Supreme Health Council and will take charge of monitoring, regulating and directing the health system in cooperation with the authority.
