Transport Minister Hisham Arafat made Wednesday a surprise tour in a number of stations of the three lines of the Underground Metro.
The tour began from Kolleyat el Banat station where the minister inspected the cleanliness of the platforms and the level of the service offered to citizens.
He pointed out that the third line of the Underground Metro is similar to the European ones.
The tour included also Attaba and Sadat stations.
Arafat gave directives to the officials that the headway during rush hours should be from 3 to 3.5 minutes.
The minister said that there is an urgent plan to develop the first line of the Metro which with 1.5 million commuters daily.
The 26-billion-pounds plan will include developing signals systems as well as buying trains, he noted.
Arafat paid a visit to the General Authority for Land and Dry Port (GALDP) accompanied by its chairman Foa'd Osman where he met with a number of employees.
He underlined the important role played by the GALDP especially that the Transport Ministry plans to establish ports and logistic areas near industrial areas to serve investors and facilitate importing and exporting of materials
